Recently over the past week when i go to switch on my pc in the morning it stops on the first screen where it tells you the pc details, drives etc. It is ok and boots fine if i hit the reset button. It seems to find the ide drives but not the sata on first boot for some reason. I have never had to install sata drivers to get them working in this pc and been ok for years now. Do i just need to reinstall the mobo drivers or is it something else?

Still having this problem, someone out there must know how i can fix this or what is causing it.

I have just reduced my ram voltage by 0.10v in the bios. I have never done anything like this before but needed to try something to sort out this problem. Will this cause any problems by doing this or will it make any difference to the ram speed?

Thanks Huddy, that is something to try if i don't get it sorted out. Since doing what i did to the ram yesterday i have had no problems with it booting. Still need to give it a littlle longer as this doesn't happen with every boot but it may have fixed it. The only reason i thought it may be the ram is that i never had this problem untill i added another 2 sticks making it 2gig.

Update..

Looks like you may have been right there Huddy:o I tried to boot earlier and it failed again. I did what you said and it finds them straight away when the drive with the OS is unplugged so it looks like that could be the culprit. Looks like it is time for a new drive.:( could have done without this at the moment.

Yes they are sata drives, and i have 1 ide drive. I did change them but made no difference and it was on the lowest.
