Booting issues

Hi guys.

I've just found myself having issues in booting up my pc.

Its been running fine for months now but couple days ago after seemingly shutting down fine I get the message saying computer fialed to shutdown properly the next time I boot up but other than that everhthing was ok.

Tonight i got home form work and tried booting up but nothing just went to black screen and would load any more. So I plugged in old HD and installed windows on it and from there i could access my SSD and storage drives fine so the HD weren't completely dead.

After moving some important docs from my SSD i thought i'd just reformat which would hopefully solve the issue..... sadly not. I can now boot in but its very tempremental and sometimes boots in but is very slow at loading(i.e. a lot of blank black screens before getting into windows - a lot more than several months ago).
One thing i have noticed if I unplug my DVD drive which I only plugged in for the reformat it won't load in at all but goes to the windows recovery option for your install which does F all. But if I levae it in the boot screen option then windows loads more often than not.

Anyone got an idea what might be causing all the issues? Mobo bios? HD? Drivers?

Any guidance or suggestions would be welcome.

I had some issues with temperamental booting and found out it was down to a dodgy SATA cable.

Have you tried changing the cable, and/or booting with only the SSD connected?
