When I ride my boots (shifter side) tend to rub the frame/paintwork. 690 Duke has less than 250 miles on it and can already see it's going to cause an issue on the paintwork. Black Boots Versus Orange Paint....stands out :p

I've decided that coating that tiny 2 inch by 1 inch section with something like VentureShield stone chip/abrasion resistant protection film will hopefully do the job, and remain largely invisible.

Has anyone else done something like this and has any experience of the potential pitfalls? Buying a small 60x30CM sheet of the stuff to play with, will come in useful for some other wear points potentially also.

Sounds like a plan. I have similar stuff on my mountain and road bikes to stop the brake and gear cables rubbing on the frame. You still get marks, but at least it's not the paint which is getting damaged.

Yeah, I don't care if the film get's shagged, can whip it off and put a new patch on. The prospect of having to strip and re paint a frame because of a small section which has been worn out is not comforting!
