As the title partially suggests, this is about the Phoenix ability for Sirens in borderlands.

Anyone notice the flames you get around you, while useful for hurting the closer enemies, and for awesome for the chance to save ammo.... it's killed me several times because i walked near an explosive barrel!

Does anyone else hate this part of it? I feel like emailing 2k games and getting them to change it.

I think for an ability like that, i'd prefer a shorter burst of fire that only hurts enemies when i kill something, but that gives a smaller chance of saving ammo constantly. Instead of a 50% chance at level 5, why not make it a 5% chance at level 5, but constant? I may splash out to do a skill reset so i can avoid using this one again...

standing next to barrels in a gun fight isn't really a smart move to start with....

Yeah, I always blast them if I need to stand where they are. On the Siren though I preferred more of a controller build - daze on melee/phaseblast/guns. Wierd, like the whole battle is in slow motion. :p

The problem is that when you're chasing someone around, you don't always notice that explosive barrel nearby. Walking past it when you're literally on fire tends to blow them up. Also, you get less chance to shoot at enemies if you spend time looking around for explosive barrels, and shooting them before you go into the area. What about one behind a rock that you can't see? run around the corner, and BLAM.

I understand that it probably is virtual selection, but its still annoying. I should probably change my build and go for the complete phasewalk build... It's not as if i don't have enough money to change a million times.
