Hi ppl. I've not long upgraded (about 6wks or so) to whats in my sig from a 939 3800+ and I'm getting bored already. As I've always had AMD I'm now looking to break my tradition and finally go to the Dark Side. Now since I've only just upgraded, I want the cheapest way to start.
I've been reading some threads regarding the 2180 and seen what's possible with the overclocks so I'm tempted by that and the £50 price tag. What would be a good SLi mobo to match?

I'd probably not suggest going with SLi, a good single graphics card is usually a better option for most but if you want the absolute cheapest way to do it then something based on the Nforce650 SLi chipset such as this Gigabyte motherboard or this Asus is the way to do it. However bear in mind that each PCI-E slot will only run at 8x when in SLi, although 16x for a single graphics card.

If you want full 16x on both graphics card then you need an Nforce680 based motherboard but they cost significantly more.

You could also look to the P35 based motherboards, highly overclockable and well tested with a good feature set. :)

Yep, a P35 mobo at the cheap end will still be good, and an aftermarket cooler for that proc...should be looking at around £160ish?

keep that graphics and maybe look at upgrading it for another single card next year when theres new stuff out.

Thats what I'd do in your shoes anyway.

Thanks for the info. Been doin sum shopping around and have looked at the Asus board already. I'm a fan of Asus anyway as they're normally good clockers. I also like my AC Freezer 64 so I'll just get the 775 version of that for the cpu.

I've just overclocked my graphics card as well and my 3dMark score jumped up from 8391 to 9318. So I think I'll stay with a single card for now. If I had a better cpu I bet i'd break the 10k barrier!!
(Is GPU:660 MHz, Shader: 1528 MHz, Memory: 997 MHz to high an overclock for my 320GTS?)
