I'm putting out a challenge to you all to see who can borg the most of their friends computers. I'm guessing people have already been doing this so please post how many friends PC's you have managed to borg for F@H!

At the moment i've only borged two friends, I had done three but i fell out with one of them. I'm planning to greatly expand this to many more though :D

The rules are:
1) The freinds PC must be running F@H under your username not their own.
2) Temporary borging doesn't count.

I'm guessing some smart ass has already borged 100 of his friends PC's but at least we can have rivalry at the low levels hehe. Btw watchout because I plan to be top100 once I get enough borged ;)

I did have two borgs but so far one of them hasn't dumped a WU yet. Either my friend decided to uninstall it or hes isn't using his computer very much!

I have been trying to borg PCs for the last week but with not much luck. Either they're already doing a DC project or they don't want to/can't be bothered/don't understand.

I've explained folding so many times to some people and how the software works but I think they're failing to understand on purpose!

You don't need to explain that level of detail just tell them it's for fighting cancer and it uses spare cpu power, the ones that don't understand are generally the ones that don't care but they may still want to do it. I go to uni on saturday to start my 2nd year, if all goes well i'll be pulling at least 2 girls a week and most should have a computer and want to do this. Imagine the potential of 2 new borgs per week!!

I can see the potential for at least 50 more borgs over the next 8 months, if I pull this off I'll be up there in the top 20 maybe!

Pulling at least 2 girls a week? Who you think you are, James Bond? :p

Everyone I have asked has wanted to know what it is I plan to install and wont let me until I have explained it.

The price I pay for educating my friends in PC and internet security :D

The first time I went clubbing was around a year ago. So I spent a year being inexperienced with pulling etc but now I think I've figured out how to do it with some experience + reading some stuff about being a PUA. Anyway veering off topic here. I plan to go out 3 nights a week so my target is 2 pulls a week (talking number pulls here btw). If we all did this I can see potential for team 10 to be the number one team. All we need to do is triple our output to get there.

I'm back at uni in a couple of weeks so I should be able to capture some computers for Team 10.

As for pulling... I should probably go to more "normal" clubs instead of just rock bars [not many rock chicks...good looking ones anyway]

8k a week that below minimum wage not really a babe magnet is it. I guess you mean 80k :p

And here's a quick life lesson for you - fast cars/money = fast women or no woman (might but fun, but no long term potential - and more importantly they don't own a PC as unable to turn it on! - might own an apple 'cus it looks nice' so you could be in luck) :p joke

No really - At two pulls a week your'll get a bad rep and that equalls no more pulls. Why not introduce F@H to your class mates and improve your rep 'cos you care' - girls talk to each other so word will spread beyond your class and it will open a whole new set of dating oppertunities. :D

here endith the lesson (this come from a guy that's only had two relationship 16-18 and 18-31 the second currently in it's 6 year of happy marrage :D and many female friends) so weight my words how ever you wish.

Edit: Back on topic - currently have 20 Borgs :D (and one personal rig)

Assuming your serious what line of work is he in? And as shadowscotland said wealth has nothing to do with pulling. I know a guy that has pulled 7 girls on one train journey just by talking to them and asking for their number so 2 a week is nothing, hes not particularly attractive either although he does have a very good sense of humour and interesting personality.

As a punishment for their accusations, the 'rents machines are being borged :p

As they are not my machines, i only have the right to fix them 'when the internet wont work' so thats borgage.

dell d410 -dads
toshiba m60 - mums

both are dothan 1.7's iirc

my dad leaves his on all the time wich will help, mum doesnt understand the concept of keeping the mains lead plugged in when your right next to it in the office room.
so that might be a bit of a problem as i leave the setting to not fold when no power is present.

You could reconfigure the client to fold all the time but at reduced power, say 50% of the CPU.

That way the laptop has a decent amount of battery power left and you're still getting something done.

Be great if the client could automatically crank up to 100% CPU usage when a laptop is running on mains.

Use RMClock to come up with a better power management profile. Set it so that it uses a lower maximum multiplier when on batteries and a lower voltage. For instance, when I'm running on batteries my laptop only runs at 800 MHz and 0.700Vcore. When I plug it in, it goes back to maximum performance.

It's not perfect and is a bad idea if you want to use all your CPU power whilst on batteries for proper work like photoshop or something, but it will work in a lot of situations.

EDIT - and I also use it to undervolt my laptop CPU when running at full pelt. It's down to 1.020Vcore instead of the 1.3Vcore it would have otherwise. Runs a whole bunch cooler now and I get longer battery life.

Well then technically I have 4 borgs:

dad - 1
sisters - 1
friends - 1 (so far)
and my girlfriends dual core (does cual core count as two borgs or one?)

And I may have another 1 or 2 comming up with said girlfriends brother.

Explain to her that when using the battery your slowly draining how much power it can hold. Get her to take the battery out and run off the mains thereby greatly increasing the life expectancy of the battery.

"Excuse me love but do you have a quad opteron server you'd let me borg?
There might be some kind of sexual reward in it for you. ;) "

Hmmmmm. It's a million to one shot, but it might just work.

Have you considered swinging both ways and going LARPing? :p :D ;)

Well... I did borg Piers225's quad-core for a while... then he cottoned on

now the pair of us have Borged about 20 PC's between us and he's setting it up on his Uni network.

btw, all the machine are folding under 'F T W'

Excluding our personal PC's we've Borged:

Sisters x1
Parents x7 (inc laptops)
Girlfriends x2
Girlfriends friends/family x4
Random friends x3

-watch this space-

EDIT: for some reason, when I type 'F T W' without the spaces, it come out like ***...

anyone know why?
