...boring car being my MK3 Mondeo Zetec-S TDCi :)

Since we've had it i've been reluctant to spend *too* much on it, as it was only really intended to get us (Me, GF, 5yr old and New-Born :D) around in reasonable comfort whilst not costing the earth (previous car was an ST24).

There were a few improvements I wanted to make on it to freshen it up a bit, so I have recently done the following...

- Face-Lift front grill (fills out the front end a bit more, looks a bit "fresher")
- Face-Lift rear lights (additional chrome strips and inserts, again looks a bit more modern than the all red units previously fitted)
- LED rear number plate lights, just because I liked them
- Refurbished wheels (Powdercoated silver, previous finish was corroding and peeling and looked terrible)
- Tinted windows (Rears were done in dark smoke, originally left the fronts without but looked odd so called the tinter back to do the fronts I. The lightest shade possible, still looks too dark to me, especially with a black interior, so I'm going to have them either removed or re-done as I don't believe he fitted the lightest shade.)
- Lowered (came across a set of ST shocks coupled with Pi Springs, made a cheeky low offer and it was accepted :D)

...and that's pretty much how it is going to stay now, it's been a great car so far and I don't want to go over the top with it, after new baby arriving I've focussed a lot more on enhancing things at home :)

I did enquire about a re-map, would have gained about 35bhp and X ammoint of torque, but at £350 at this moment in time I have better things to spend my money on, probably the same reason why I passed on a Recaro ST interior (in cream though) at £400... Just couldn't justify it at this moment in time!

Anyway, I'll get pics up tomorrow when it's a slightly more sociable hour :)

I was considering finding facelift rear lights for our Mondeo, as one needs replacing anyway. Is it a straight swap and do you know if saloon / hatch rear lights are interchangeable?

Yes they are the 5 spokes, the corrosion was worse around the valves. You can see under the powder coat where they were corroding, it almost looks pitted but there's nothing they could do about it, if they were being painted it would have been a different story :)

I'm not sure if the saloon and hatch rear lights are interchangeable, they look the same but the best place to enquire will be fordmondeo.org

The standard tinted glass is nearly the maximum legally allowed so there's no option to tint the fronts and stay legal with all the possible insurance implications that brings.

If you look in the lower corner of the front windows there's usually a bunch of rubbish written there... I know on most ford front windows the last line of text will be "Tinted"... This would indicate it's already close to the legal limit of 70 or 75%.. Can't remember :/

It does say that actually, you learn something new every day :) they are over the legal limit (obvious) and will need removing but I'm not brave enough to do that myself!

I'm away from home but I'll see if I can upload a picture over my iPhone (Yes, you heard it folks.... IPHONE BABY !!) ;)

Excuse the poor quality :)

Looking good! Don't remap it, it's never going to be a quick car and the 130 is plenty to never struggle. Not worth the risk to the fuel system IMO

Looks weird at the rear, like its too low. Maybe it's just because the rims are inboard like crazy, might look good with 15mm or so of spacer in there. Otherwise raise the rear or drop the front more to match.

I have to say though, I don't really get the whole modded Mondeo thing, it's a bit barry.

It sits even at both ends, just looks odd on the picture because of the angle, the rear wheels would benefit from being spaced out though!

I wouldn't say it was "Barry", I've fitted a standard front grill, standard rear lights and a slightly lower suspension set-up, hardly body kits and spoilers.. I doubt you would call me Barry if I had a ST220 and put exhausts and air filters on it ;)

Nice :)

Puts my black one to shame! :(

Did you add the chrome front grill? I thought all facelifts had them but mine has a body colour grille surround....

Yeah I added the chrome grill, requires the key hole cutting out a bit the get the bonnet latch working correctly, mine came with the pre-facelift grill, this looks a bit nicer :)

Thanks for the congrats Dave, chuffed to bits :D
