I haven't used my Mac Mini in ages and now it wont work. :(

When I turn it on, it chimes but the graphics on the screen are all garbled. I've swapped monitors and the vga adapter but still the same problem. I'm guessing the graphics on the mobo have gone.

How easy and cost effective would it be to swap the mobo for another (if indeed, that is where the problem lies)

Is it possible to boot off a live-cd and diagnose the problem via the network port.

Sorry that didn't work. A mini pretty much is the motherboard as the graphics etc. are all integrated. As it is Apple I don't think you can just buy another motherboard and swap it. Best bet is to take it to an Apple store or somewhere that fixes Apple hardware and see what they can do although if it is out of warranty it probably won't be cheap :(

how are the graphics garbled? colours... lines? also, you say you have been using a vga adapter... have you tried just using dvi? same thing?

Clear the PRAM and VRAM on boot, go into monitor settings, change it to something else, apply, restart, change it back to the native res, restart.
