No one is interested in SETI anymore, so B0rkely can only afford a Pentium II server with 64mb of RAM.

I think its due to a planned power outage. I don't think it was anything they had any control of. There was something about it in the technical news message boards.

Just set you preference to connect to the internet once every 5 days or so to make sure you have enough work to get over these outages.

Yeah, it is. They've had some longstanding electrical issues in the lab and had to power down literally everything last night so the engineers could try and sort it out.
