Anyone watching this , Ive got it on in the background while losing heavily at poker.

Fat Eddy Murphy dived for a pen , Boro 1 up.

Not a bad first 20 minutes to be fair (and here comes the but)

BUT I bet there is close to 8000 empty seats , this is only the second season the club have ever been in Europe and they are playing a team with history and pedigree (all of which boro lack).

Sorry to offend but its disrespectful to the teams and the competion and why play music when they score?
Its not ice hockey!

Steve Gibson must despare.

I wonder what the Roman visitors make of the town? :p

I lost heavily at poker too :(

Definitely was looking for the penalty, you could see it a mile off. Boro playing alright though considering the form of Roma.

It's on it4 btw.

Roma arent playing an out and out striker! Didnt think id see Mancini play upfront on himself
penalty

Played like that against Inter, Hes as RB by trade too! well That was no penalty anyway. Good penalty though. Roma will do the business at hme though I think.

very good win for boro, makes it a bit more even when we travel to rome next week, gunna be a difficult match, but i can see boro sitting back and just trying to brake on the counter, like we did second half today. Jimmy was just clever to get the penalty, seen the keeper coming etc, but how mendi didnt make it 2, i was shocked to see that go flying over the bar.

It was actually closer to 10,000. I was disgusted with it myself.

Was there tonight anyway. Was a cracking first 20 minutes. Everyone didn't stop singing. Then when it was just the midfield battle, it was pretty much a dead atmosphere. Nothing as close to the Lazio game. Still got the win and kept a clean sheet which was the most important thing.

I'm assuming you support Newcastle cos that's all your lot ever go on about. You sound like a typical Geordie. We win and all you can do is have a dig at our attendance or town rather then saying well done. This coming from the same club who had at 20000-28000 empty seat in your UEFA Cup home games last season

I knew if I left it long enough Id get a bite.

I wasnt knocking the achievement , just highlighting the dispair a good bloke like Gibson must feel when he looks around the ground after providing what the club has been after for a long time.
A trophy and a European glamour tie.

Bite. How sad if that's the reason you made this post.

As for Gibson. I'm sure he's more then happy with how things are going. Yes attendances have fallen over the past 2 seasons but we are still averaging about 29k in the premier league for a team that 20 years ago were on the verge of going out of existence.

I'm also pretty sure he is happy to not only see us win our first major trophy but also to see us compete in Europe two years on the trot.

Also, unlike Newcastle we don't have the catchment area to sustain a large support. That fact we are have managed to average 29k+ for the past ten years is pretty good for us.

The reason why I bited (Your words not mine) is cos I've never known a set of fans go on about attendances more then you Geordies. Last time I checked you don't win points nor trophies for the size of your crowd. But if that's all you've got to go on then go ahead and shout it from the top of your rooftop.
