Boston Dynamics are building a robot that will be faster than the faster human and it's been named Cheetah

I could see the practical benefits of such an invention in crime and possibly military situations. Maybe an armed robbery has occurred and the robbers are fleeing the scene. Just unleash a group of cheetah's to bring those robbers down! Or, in a warzone, you see someone has planted a bomb on the road and is getting away from the scene. Go Cheetah! Take that soldier down.

But there's a part of me that just thinks Skynet has taken a backseat and Boston Dynamics will bring about the fall of civilisation.

These robots never cease to amaze me...

Can you imagine Bigdig scaled up to the size of an elephant or larger carrying weapons and armaments , surely this is the future of say front line assault, clearing out areas then sending in the troops to clean it up.

Quite scary, i would love to see into the future of this company for say 50 years and see who and what they are supplying ...

Not sure which is more frightening, Big Dog or the Cheetah.

There's something eery about knowing that something slow is coming after you, no matter where you go it and its friends will be coming for you. At least with this cheeta the human race will be destroyed quickly, that has to be better than a slow and paranoia fueled death, surely?

Edit:

To think that's the smaller brother to Atlas.

:( :( :(

I was blown away by Big Dog - its ability to maintain its balance when kicked, and slipping about on ice are things I've never seen in a robot before.

This really, make Big Dog 40ft tall add some armor and cannons and have yourself an imperial walker :D
