Both iPad and iPhone not working until...

Both would not connect to WiFi, well not entirely correct. Both may connect once every say 20 tries after pressi g the SSID in networks on the device etc. However the internet would barely work maybe google might load once, sites like google news would hang with the loading bar at about 10%. Then the WiFi would disconnect again. Exact same with iPhone.

So after resetting the network setting on the iPad, magically both iPad and phone now work fine, if it was only one or the other with this problem and was fixed by reseting networking settings I wouldn't think twice about it but the fact that resetting only the iPad fixed the phone as well has me baffled, any ideas?

In a newer version of IOs if you have more than one device on the same ICloud account they tend to automatically share WiFi passwords. I presume they share other network details automatically as well.

I did notice the phone showing in the iPads setting as a hotspot. It must be as you said the fact as you said that they are sharing info via the cloud. Still wonder exactly what info was corrupt etc.
