Bottle neck test program?

Is there a program that can tell you if the CPU is bottle necking the system?
Or is it just a case of if the CPU is running at 100% & GPU 80% then that already gives me the answer?

no and no

The best way to test for a bottleneck is to reduce graphics settings, if fps gets higher, there is no cpu bottleneck. If it stays the same, then the cpu is the limiting factor. Doesn't always mean your cpu is terrible though, it could just be that the game is more cpu dependent.

Intel i7 920 @ 3.90
2x GTX580 3MB
2560x1440 res
Games always on max setting.
Best CPU I have ever had 3 years old now & still going strong.

according to le google+guessing, there's no way you are ever bottlenecking those cards, and especially not at that res or settings. since your're maxing out everything, i'd guess you wouldn't even bottleneck two 7970s a lot (or at all?), especially not with that overclock either

Thanks again guys this is good news.
Was not sure if I had some money in cards sat there & not working them to the max.
A few more years for this CPU then.

I have two 7970's and an i7 920 @ 4GHZ.

If I reduce all the settings in BF3 I don't gain any FPS in a 64 player map.

I believe my 920 is holding my 7970's back only in this game.

If I overclock my 920 to 4.2 then I gain a few fps.

So what CPU will lift this bottleneck?

sisosft sandra will sort of tell you the mix of the components on its benchmark setting and how they compare to others and if they are in synergy with your other components

not sure if that is what you mean but thats all i can think of that is along those lines
