Sorry for the noob question but I didn't know where else to go :(.

I was looking at the Antec 300 case and it looks perfect for my needs, i'm just concerned about the bottom mounting of the psu though. I've been wondering about dust build up due to its location. (I've got a 650w corsair so the fan opening will be facing upwards) Can anyone give me their opinions on the matter?

I have that case, no issues at all, quite dust free, its got a nice mesh grid at the front, keeps most of the dust out. The location of the PSU is optimal, really good.

By optimal you mean its got more advantages that top mounted? I can't tell what the differance would be besides the movment of the mobo so that the cpu heat sink being right next to the two case fans. Thats just me though i don't really know much about it xD.

On another note the ocuk description said "Washable air filters reduces dust build up in your system, which helps keep your system cooler", is the air filter mentioned the mesh at the front or is there some kind of thin foam layers etc?

There is a filter layer in it's own holder behind the case front which is easily removed if i remember correctly - I usually just took mine out and dusted it off outside using an old paint brush - quicker and easier than washing, although that is possible too. As others have said the PSU mounting position is fine and at the bottom of the case it's not subject to heating from hot air produced by other components, and as it's own fan draws air from inside the case and then out it's exhausting it's own heat from the interior rather than adding to the total heat load so in theory should last longer as there is less stress on components.

If you look at a case like the Silverstone Fortress you'll see the PSU is at the bottom but mounted with the fan underneath - so it draws cold air from outside the case through it to form a completely seperate cooling loop to the rest of the case - the Antec 300 could easily be modded to achieve the same effect, but you would have to put it onto decent sized 'feet' so's it could get sufficient cold air into it.

Ahhh, that clears up things a lot, I’m liking this case even more by the hour! I'll definitely go for this and take things as they come when it arrives. Might try as you suggested and mod it to be like the Silverstone Fortress. Cheers everyone :)

I have an Antec 300 fitted with a Corsair TX750w PSU (fan facing down).

Apart from the top 140mm fan, all other fan placements are fitted with AC Ryan fan filters (plus the main filter panel supplied with the 300)...and my case is spotless inside :)

The 300 case is a breeze to keep clean and dust free.

OH@! forgot you could buy fan filters ._. , solves all of my problems as i was going to buy an extra 120mm fan and put in the in side, thus it would be pumping dusty air right above the psu (we have old carpets :( ). Nothing a £3 filter wont fix. I feel so stupid not realising this sooner

Decided against the mod becasue its going to be near floor level, next to the carpets >_<.

Will you be buying some fans for the front too? The Antec 300 is only supplied with two fans (top and rear exhaust).

There are placements for five fans in total, all of which are filled in my own 300 (I replaced the stock 120mm fans with Xilence Redwing 120's).

Air flow is great, and extremely quiet too...the only thing I can hear right now though is my old hard drive that's whining :( (it's being swapped out over the weekend though with a Sammy F1) :)

I hope you like the case mate.
