The place was advertising them as the 2011 controllers, the ones with the new-style d-pad, but I'm not sure if this is the case. How can I tell if it's the new or the old controller?

old (also in black)

new (grey buttons twistable dpad)

^ you can get different colors though so if its not that color dont worry just test the D-pad

new ones have swivel D-pads making them 4 directions and 8 directions. twist it if not then its the old one.

on a side note i dont like the look of the thumbsticks unless u cant feel that step then its ok

While we're here I have a question!

Currently using a wired pad for the PC but was considering getting one of the wireless adapters.

Question is, if I have one of the wireless adapters every time I turn the pad on, will it turn the Xbox on which is in the same room? Will there be issues in both machines fighting over which the pad is connected to?

no you have to pair them up so only one device will switch on

Gaaah! Annoyed! Got it from the rainforest place, it CLEARLY said "2011" on the listing, surely that should have implied it's the new one!

No, it only syncs with one device at a time, so just unplug the xbox when you sync with pc then replug it back in after :)

i guess they do revisions from time to time so it could be a 'new one in a way' but the d pad will still suck

it's not revisions the dates on the rainforest place are normally just the dates they get the shipment/public release dates (next to product). confusing sometimes especially with some of there DVD's

there is only 3 gens of 360 controls official ones anyway.

Probably, but it's not my fault if they dug up an old batch of 3-year-old controllers from a warehouse in Rangoon. I expected to get one of the new ones, so I've emailed them to say they've sent me the wrong product and I want a replacement. It might not have been their intention to mislead me but it happened cause they didn't know that the product they were selling underwent major revisions and the date might be relevant, it was their responsibility to know this.

Im about to order one from ocuk, which version do they stock? Looks like the old one :(

that is an old one, rainforest people have them but it's wireless meaning you may need the dongle for PC play there selling at about 40 quid

yup i understand not your fault at all, trust me many people have been burned by there stupid dates. they will give you a refund, or as you have asked them the product you want 100% there customer service is faultless (or maybe i just been lucky :p) as said above they do sell the wireless version (with play and charge kit) just not sure if they support PC/360 without a dongle anymore
