Always played fps on pc, but decided to get a 360 and black ops

not being funny but god damn the controller sucks :(

hoping i could master it but it just seems fundamentally flawed for fps compaired to a kb&m

do you think i will be able to actually master this, as i seriously struggle just walking around never mind aiming and shooting, is it just a case of practising ?

driving games are cool as, but fps god no

any help gladly accepted

For me it's a completely different type of game. I changed my playing style to what worked better for me. Just keep at it and you will figure out whats best for you.

i was the same but now i find it just as easy than keyboard and mouse and always use my console for fps gaming

When I first used a controller with two Analogue sticks to control a Fps it was back on the original Xbox playing Halo for the first time. Wthin ten minutes it had stopped feeling weird, within half an hour it felt completely natural. I especially liked the way I no longer had to take my eyes off the action and look down to reload, jump etc, although obviously a mouse has greater accuracy and speed. Both have their advantges and I'm happy using either.

Think of the sticks as the keyboard on the left for your leg movements and the mouse being the right stick as your head. Keep at it, you'll get used to it.

I was as bad as anyone could be with a controller. Took me about a month, now I never lose a game. Practise and don't give up.
The challenge of learning to adapt can be a little frustrating at times but it's fun too :D

Have you tried inverting the Y axis? I think that it works better for those coming from using a mouse for looking.

I keep trying with the mouse and keyboard on the pc and I just can't get used to the keyboard, mouse is not a problem but fluidly moving with the keyboard and having to look at it for certain keys just dose my head in.
I know practise makes perfect but at this rate it'll never happen lol. Need to get a grip on it though because using a pad in battlefield bad company 2 (using pinnacle game profiler) means I get owned on pc a lot even though the controls are like the official xbox ones. You can't react as fast/be as accurate with a pad.

You need to get to the stage where you no longer think about what you are doing. Doesn't take long with a bit of practise.

im in the same boat trying to play bulletstorm demo on my ps3 , god its hard with a pad but im getting better . ive still ordred it on pc though lol

Everyone else uses one so it's a level playing field. In real life can you spin around 3 times on the spot instantly like you can in a PC fps? :p

fail argument, in real life can you get shot 4 times and survive whilst still holding a gun and firing bullets with minimal recoil or body effect?? hmmmm NO.

keyboard and mouse offers a massive degee of control that a pad cant deliver...if you cant see that then your a muppet.

not saying pads are pad at all, they serve a casual purpose and nothing more.

I found this straight away, just cannot use a control pad unless the Y axis is inverted :)

Infact after going back to play Mario Sunshine on the GC I ended up physically modding my controller to switch the Y axis due to the lack of controller options in-game

While you see it as being a fundamentally flawed control method... probably not.

You just need to accept that it is different and get on with it. If you can do that then there will come a point where you don't even think about the control device.
