using Windows Server 2008 R2 EE here (same base kernel as Win 7).
I plugged in internally a 4TB SATA drive.

Disk management sees it but only creates the first 2TB partition, then the remaining is unallocated and im unable to create a simple or extended volume on that.

I understand the MBR/GPT thing. problem is my mobo does not support EFI. I am not fussed about being able to boot from it or not but I want to use it for backup/storage and be able to use it within Windows - not for booting but for file storage.

any ideas?

I managed to fix it. basically I ended up converting it to GPT as you pretty much hinted just now. so I see the full 4TB (3.96 or whatever).

now I cant seem to get freakin acronis backup and recovery to mount the RAID0 backup I did, which is stored on this 4TB drive. mounts the SSD Boot drive no problem, but not the 1TB backup I did... twice.

grrrrrr

EH?
Sorry, you said that you put the Backup onto the 4TB and now you cannot see it since you converted it... or am I just nuts?
