Hi guys,

purchased a boxee box recently, reading through lots of articles, plays my local media fine, just having to spend time organising it.

Was wondering if you had any general tips? Apart from visiting the Boxee forums as I am reading articles there etc....

I have installed Navi-X but any other usefull apps available that work here in the UK?

Got rid of my Acer Revo with XBMC on it, ok its not as flexible etc however it still does what I want it to but now anybody in the house can use it without my help!

I bought one last week too.

Not looked into installing any apps etc as it works so well out of the box. However I'll take a look at the formums to see what's what.

I've not got any apps yet, although my mum bought one after seeing mine and has ended up as a beta tester of the Navi-X app.

Sounds like a very good app and i'm sure i'll get it one day

Trust me Orange Peel Navi-X is something you need to look at....

Cool well if you find anything useful out or apps that work (some are region dependent) then let us know.

I have had one since launch, it's much better now than it was then!
I've not really gone down the apps route as they are 90% garbage. The new iplayer app on there is pretty good, just wish it had lovefilm streaming !

Yeh am hoping when they release the next big update to the PC version there will be more apps and people come back to fix broken apps that don't work on the box anymore but only the older boxee software....

Ive had one since launch. IMO Navi-X is very poor. Just full of really bad camcorder in cinema type recordings. It does have some interesting stuff on there but 99% of my content is streamed locally.

One thing I would do is switch off the auto updates. The forum is full of people with problems caused by forced updates. I now update the box myself by downloading the firmware, sticking it on a USB thumbdrive and updating the box that way. Never had a single issue with any upgrade. Plus if you wait a week and see what feedback the update gets. Some have been great, others shockingly bad.

Great box and it is getting better and better.

Well I have spottted stuff that doesn't stream, gives you and error message, etc but not everything on there is like that.

Ah I did notice a thread where people were talking about things being broken for some and not others. Suggesting that there maybe hardware revisions as those with newer boxes didn't have the issue compared to the older ones but might just be coincidence.... For example I did update my boxee box twice now since I got it and no issues forwarding and rewinding for me, but others are having that issue on the forums over there....
