Hi All,

I'm looking for some guidance on a recent car purchase - i bought a 07 Plate Civic back at the beginning of August with a '1 Month Guarantee'. A couple of days after buying the car (Part Ex with Credit Card to make up the difference) i noticed the CD Player wouldn't read any Discs. I called the seller to let them know about the fault, as well as a small oil leak. They reassured me both would get sorted - i took the car in, oil leak was sorted and they agreed the CD player needed replacing. To cut a long story short, nearly 3 months down the line, they still claim not to be able to get hold of a replacement CD player. About a month ago they claimed one was 'on it's way' it's still not arrived, it appears and they've stopped returning my calls.

Any thoughts on where i stand / what action i could take?

Cheers.

Do you have evidence in writing that you informed them of the problem within a couple of days?

If they can't source/provide a replacement, might be worth negotiating a partial refund for the cost of you replacing it yourself (assuming they respond that is) otherwise I guess your only other option is small claims.

If you don't have any proof that you reported it within a few days (i.e. if it was all done over the phone) then I think you're a bit stuffed really :(

Thanks for getting back to me. It was done over the phone, as the dealer is not local to me. Replacements do seem quite easy to source, the popular auction site has quite a few for < £150 - i'm not expecting a new one - Honda want £1200 to fit a new one!

Hmmm.

Tbh the very first mod anyone does to an 8th Gen Civic is to bin the sound system !

It really is crap
