Hi firstly i bought a u3011 off NO COMPETITORS! set as new coming from a third party site but when i read the site (NO COMPETITORS!) they only sell refurbished monitors now i'm peed off as i was expecting a brand new monitor not something dodgy, now i feel like i want to return the item. As far as the monitor goes i'm using it via vga the pics nice and large i tried my xbox on it, it's really grey! compared to my tv. Also when i increase the contrast it fades the black text abit which is annoying, also the anti glare? it's like when you wipe the screen with a damp cloth looks horrible. I was expecting to be blown away by reading all the reviews about the picture quility but it seems fairly average to me..? Anyway not sure if i should return it or keep it...?

Don't use that monitor with VGA, use it via displayport or dual-link DVI or you can't use it on its native resolution.

They look really bad via VGA. I would return it although if it was a good cherry (no banding, backlight problems, hue shifts etc) then I would keep it as it's a good specimen and even brand new you could end up with screen issues.

would you say the difference between VGA and DVI is the equivalent as say scart vs HDMI or not as noticable?

I just spoke to the company and they said the item was NEW, it did have the *if this seal is broken* tape over the box plus all the accessories came sealed it didn't come with a disc or user manual though.. is there anyway i can know for certain if it is new? as if it is i will keep it!

Well if you paid over £550 then you might have been ripped off. That place that uses the strap line 'we buy' sold mine to me for £475 and it had some warranty and was tested and mint condition. Is there any way to check warranty cover on mine without the box being present? It's a lot to expect when I paid less for this than my 2407wfp which was £525 from dell in 2007 lol.

These are £900+ new and go for about £500-600 2nd hand. I got lucky with mine and snagged a BNIB for £600. I would be happy as hell if I got one for £475 in mint condition. You can check warranty using the service tag on the back of the monitor on Dells website.
