Got a Radeon r9 290 graphics card in a msi 797-g45 gaming motherboard and the graphic card is not being detected.. i go into bio's and no sign of it being there. The fans works fine on the graphics card but no detection it being used by teh system??

i bought this card a while back in September 2014 and only recently chucked my new computer. i've tried everything. pretty gutted at the moment. any suggestions???

Did you buy it new?

Does it give out a video signal when connected to the monitor?

Have you tried it in another machine?

I had an issue with a PC I built my brother for xmas where it wouldn't give a signal at all through the discrete graphics cards.

It turned out he board was faulty.

yea bought it new, no signal when i connect it to the hdmi slot in teh gfx card. havent tried it in another machine.. i got another pci i slot but it wont fit cause of the shape on my casing.

can you get the board replaced?? surely theres warranty on them for a couple of years. but still what is faulty the board or the graphics card. i'm really ****ed off, been waiting months to put this thing together...

Have you connected up both power connectors into the 290? Forgive me if it seems a stupid question, but I've seen it happen too many times not to ask it.

Have you tried updating the bios?

I had a similar problem when I got one of the first R9 290s at the end of 2013, it wouldn't do anything in my 2500k setup without a bios update just a black screen and spinning fans.

After a quick update it was fine, black screen crashes aside...

yea thought you only needed one in haha, kind of new to this whole thing been a long time since i built a computer, last time i had one i wasn't plugging power supply's into the graphics card but yea, works amazing! thanks again.

Glad you got it sorted mate, and thanks for letting us know it's sorted. :)

Enjoy your rig, and don't forget to get some pictures on the forum - we all like to ogle a bit of hardware loveliness! :D
