I found a UK based hi-fi shop that was selling a mint condition second-hand Meridian G80 for about £1600

I had to go for it, I am part exchanging my Naim CD5i for it so am getting the G80 for £1200

Cannot wait!

Enjoy!
I've rather enjoyed the Meridian CDPs I've heard over the years. Just whatever you do, don't buy their digital speakers. Never heard a pair of them sound good yet.

I hear that Meridian do particularly good cd players, but don't do other stuff very well. What is a good partner pre/power-amp for Meridians? I am only upgrading my source right now. So the G80 will be connecting to my Naim Nait-5i integrated amp and Naim Arriva floor-standers.

i have a G06 and have it partnered with a G01 pre and G57 power. would have gone for the G02 ideally but found a G01 cheap so went with that. stuck with all meridian as the missus likes meridian gear so slipped in under the radar nicely. so havent compared with other combinations, but sounds good IMO. :)

Heard one at last years head-fi meet, connected to a Benchmark DAC1 -> Graham slee solo -> Senn 650 headphones and it was simply astonishing.

Still a lot of money for a CDP, my modded marantz 63 does a great job and would consider lyngdorf player to match my amp :D

Enjoy it !!!!!!!!

First question, why do you want to upgrade? Is it:
- there's something you don't like, e.g. you'd like to move away from the Naim presentation style?
- you've got some dosh and want something better

From experience, I'd suggest you look at your speakers next.
The key reason I say that is that synergy between amp and speakers is far more important than whether each individual element is an award winning unit. In general speakers are the most personal choice for a person, mainly because there's a bigger variance in how they present the music, additionally, you need to ensure that you can get them to work in your own room.
So my suggestion is that you find the speakers you like, then get an amp that will work with them.

The standard route is for people to have come in from getting used to the usual 2 way ported standmount. At the kind of price point you should be looking at, there's actually a shed load more choices, e.g. electrostatics, horns, infinite baffle.
