Hi,
Thanks for the good luck everyone wished in the other thread, everything went through fine and finally we have our first house. Upon entering, we found a huge amount of mail (we already knew), but around 60 letters. I was going through it creating little labels saying "not known at this address, please return to sender" and sticking them all on the letters.
After a while, I wondered what actually happened to the past owners and so googled the name (Ok, maybe I shouldn't have, just google though, perhaps i'm a nosey parker).
What I find is:
1- The person was sent to prison for 3 years for being part of a gang responsible for the robbery of expensive cars and exporting them to India (BBC NEWS LINK: CLICKY ).
2- I then find that the lady who lived there was warned for trafficking drugs into prison.
We knew the area isn't the best, but we checked the crime statistics and spoke to our neighbors first, they seem nice enough. We googled a lot about the property before of course and knew that at the start of last year they tried to rent it out, now I think I know why.
So... how would you react to this news? I think perhaps I need to secure the house a little (the door is broken anyway since the house was repossessed). We got the house at a good price and i'm still happy with the purchase. It needs work but the houses in the area are worth a fair bit more (when fixed up).
So.. what now? Currently we are waiting for the electric and gas keys to allow us to reconnect everything, but what would the first thing you do be? Would you be particularly worried? Should I be worried?
