Bought a PS3

I got a PS3 60gb with a few months warrenty left, 10-12 games and 2 blue ray movies for £300.

So to celebrate I got myself a copy of MGS4 for £22 which I cannot wait to play! The only downfall to all this is that I have to play on a 28" CRT tv until I move out in October grr.

I'm looking forward to Tekken 6 and Street Fighter 4 too ;) hopfully there out soon.
 
I can't remember the games :eek: I snapped at it because I knew it was a bargin, I will have to post back on the games. Off the top of my head I remember..

There is no way I can wait until October knowing I have a PS3 and MGS4 in the very same room :p

I tried to persuade my wife to let me get a 46" Sony X series tv for around £1600 but she won't budge until we move :rolleyes:

My PC monitor is a Samsung 226BW (bought from here) it is 22" 1080p compatible etc etc etc but I don't think I can connect hdmi to it, I will check on that.

Is it worth playing on a 22"?

Ahh Streeteh nailed it. I was thinking of HDCP that it is. So Im going to need to buy 2 cables for this?

Nanoman the wife loves the glass around the X series... tbh so do I which doesn't justify it being double the price but if it will keep her happy and I can get that I think it will do. £647 is bloody cheap though, can you PM a link to it?

Your audio solution depends on what type of speaker system you have:

If you have one supporting optical, that's easy, just buy an optical cable

If you have one that uses a headphone plug like most PC speakers then you'll need some way of consolidating the 2 coax cables into a single headphone jack.

My speaker system is a BOSE Companion 3 and my soundcard is an Asus Xonar DX

I found the LCD TV for £645 delivered (Sony V series 4000) but I am suprised that the same model but 6" bigger is so much more expensive (over £1000).
 
What is so great about XMB (scaling?) I noticed this on the W Sony series on the new 4000 model and as someone mentioned it being worth buying over a 46"
 
Well its probably because I don't have an LCD TV that I got such a great deal. People telling me not to play on my CRT TV has put a big blow into that. Now I'm thinking of the W series Sony if it has a flashy light im SOLD!

I plan to mate, I want GTA4 and Tiger Woods isn't something I am interested, nor the Fifa's tbh after a few goes I get bored and a few months later a new version is released... I just cant justify owning a football game anymore as there old so fast.

I use to love the fifa games, I was playing the original fifa way back in 1994 or around that time. I use to get so excited for them too but after Fifa 97 I gave up because a new version was getting released so fast it seemed. I know if I play 08 I will think its great, and then comes 09.. and soon after 10 is out... drives me nuts. NOW if Fifa cost £15 to buy brand new each year, THAT would be different. Or allow you to trade your last seasons game ie trade 08 for 09 and just pay a tenner each time you upgrade.

tbh I'm not really interested in any of them. I will play through Resistance and maybe 1 other but a lot of them I can see myself trying to dump within a week or so on the MM or ebay.
 
Ah thanks for the pics much appreciated! I shall do the same once my TV is set up and ready to go.

MGS4 this wkend hopfully, I cant wait!

How is the remote btw? Bit of a random question I guess but I am curious. I heard there is a button to light it up for use in the dark.

I must be thinking of the X series model I looked at.

I just got told my TV is in stock but the Stand isn't, they said SONY have the stand in stock though so they will ring in 2/3 days to confirm a shipping date, since it is bank holiday wkend looks like I won't get it until sometime next week! booooooo
 
wow £680 is crazy!

And so I have Metal Gear Solid 4 beside me right now, a PS3 and no LCD TV until next week by the sound of things.... great.... just great.

Yeah a bunch of them are being added to the PSN but no way in hell will the entire catalogue be there.

When I had a PS2 I never played PS1 games on it. I know I got a 60gb PS3 now but really I will play 1 or 2 PS2 games that I missed and in a year or so barely anyone will bother.

Oh and I won't be playing MGS4 until my TV arrives, I'm just gutted. And the fact I am now off work after hurting my foot late last night means I am off work for a few days.
 
I still have no TV, I changed the order 3 times over this TV drama.

Ended up ordering a SONY KDL46W4500. I just noticed I have been waiting over a month from first waiting for a stand to come in to ship my tv and stand and then changing to a different model where that wasn't in and finally changing again to the 46" which will be arriving Friday at the store. I'll get my TV Monday most probably.

I can't believe I have MGS3 and my PS3 sitting there and I have yet to play it all over a LCD TV.
