Bought a PS3!

Rightey, so I started off on xbox 360, on my 4th one - this one has lasted a long time compared to the others but is starting to show signs of problems :mad:

I had a PS3 but wasn't satisfied with the online service compared to the 360s and so, I sold it.

The deal on the 'tropical rainforest' website a few days ago which sparked the temperature on HUKD just tempted me to buy one :D There are so so many exclusives that I want to play on the system and very excited about receiving it inlcluding Resistance 2, Uncharted 1 and 2, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, LBP, MAG, MGS, Heavy Rain etc...

I'm just concerned yet again about the online service. I've heard its definately improved, but 90% of my friends have the 360 which is a bit of a burden, so as long as this 360 holds out, I'll have sessions with them, but the PS3 will end up being my main machine.

I hope I can meet some good people from this forum on PSN rather than the perception I have at the moment: screaming kids! :o I feel as though the quality of these exclusives may be worth the transfer to the PS3 though ;). Hope to see you guys online sometime!

I would also consider downloading some MP demo's off PSN the download speed is pretty quick compared to my xbox


Personally i would advise you to use up your XBL subs since your friends are on there and PSN isn't costing you anything :)

You should probably try Valkyria chronicles too. really good game and other than some overly tough areas (just push through them if you can) you'll have almost constant fun.

even if PSN did have screaming kids you wouldn't know it with the lack of people owning any headsets or anything. Take that as a plus and a con since you don't have to put up with it but often games are sadly quiet. This can be good sometimes though, in metal gear 4 I preferrred it so I could listen for my enemy coming with it having a sneaking element and plenty of cover.

You should like the PS3 so if you do get one enjoy.
 
I've only encountered screaming kids once in 2 months of online play, this was on Fifa though which for me has always been the hunting ground of the screaming kid, second only to the COD series, or if you own a 360, Halo.

It's improved from the early days, I used to play over a friends and it was nowhere near as good as Live but now I'd say the gap has narrowed. All we really need is a nice party chat feature but that's probably not as important to you as you have the 360 to play online with. Good choice on picking up a Playstation 3 by the way, you'll love it. :)
 
I have had a few funny times when Americans have been on.

Playing UC2 online, some guy was throwing out abuse then you hear someone should something in the back ground and he was like "Yeah mom" ... very funny :D
 
@Chronictank - Thanks! I'll add you upon arrival! I'll deffo try and use my sub but think that the sub will last longer than this 360 tbh.

@Insanties_birth - Maybe I can look at it in the way that kids wont be able to afford mics so only decent people will have them ;) I have got one, just waiting for delivery (should be Monday!)

@K1LLSW1TCH Glad to hear that the gap has narrowed quite a bit. Ah, so party chat is the only 'missing' feature really? Sounds great!

@HarryPainful - sometimes it is pretty hilarious I suppose! :D

I hear plenty of people tend to have one on that M.A.G. game since it's all about communication. Only game I've played online though is metal gear 4 and there was only one guy with a mic who stopped talking when he realised no one else had one lol. It's not so bad if you don't want to talk, I'm there to game really so the less side noise the better actually.
 
@Insanties_birth - I know what you mean. I can't multitask so find it hard to talk and play very effectively at the same time. Sometimes it's just fun though, I mean talking while playing cops and robbers on GTAIV while your car flips over and lands in the sea...sharing laughs is brilliant, and hopefully there are some brill OCUKers that I can share laughs with on PSN! :D
 
dont worry about PSN. its perfectly fine. good even. plus you actually get dedicated servers with a fair few games meaning your not stuck using some guys crappy BT line for hosting. resistance 2 60 player was smooth as butter when i had my ps3. wish i could say the same for 16man MW2 :(
 
Ive been in a few games with annoying kids, i just change game or mute them if they are that bad, first time i played COD4 there was some american bloke ordering Pizza over the phone he gave out name address credit card details only to then remember he had his head set on still lol.
 
@"andy" - so MW2 isn't on dedicated servers on the PS3? I've had no issues with it on the xbox so surprised there are issues with the ps3 version!

@"msmalls74" - now thats a huge LOL! :D Do you guys remember that famous vid on youtube of that boy talking down the mic during rainbow six blackarrow? That was hilarious!! :cool:
