Hi, bought a bundle of stuff to build my new PC, hopefully tomorrow, but realised I've gone for a SATA CDROM/DVD. Last time I loaded Win XP (about 3 years ago) there was a hitch with my SATA HDD that needed 3rd party drivers before XP could load to/recognise a SATA HDD, managed this via F6 key and loaded the drivers from a floppy I made and it proceeded OK but how would a SATA CD/DVD work then? Will it require drivers - before the Windows CD even recognises it is in a CD Drive?? Sort of catch22? Or should I just take my IDE CDROM from existing PC for the initial install...

New motherboard is an ASUS P5Q if that helps.

Thanks

Just a thought for you to bear inmind..
If your reinstalling windows with your sata, you would need the f6 for your HD ne way? you might as well not bother with all the BIOS stuff in that case and a, keep the floopy incase of reinstalls. or, you could say, add the sata drivers into xp.. that would require abit of nliting however..

rereading your question, you shouldnt have any problems with windows not seeing the cd as it were..
