It didn't come with a remote, but i was assured i could do everything on the front panel that i could with the remote. So far i have got the analog inputs to work, but not without the DSP (like a graphical equalizer) on, which is a bit irritating. Could anyone suggest how i can turn the DSP off using the front panel? At the moment when i do this it cuts the sound.

For the moment i am just using a pair of stereo speakers.

Thanks.

Got it working now, cheers.

Is a bit fiddly without the remote though, does anyone know if yamaha makes a universal remote for their products or something?

I assume the remote codes are probably in the manual so you could buy one of the Logitech universal ones and program that up.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but but seems to make more sense than making a new one.

Been using this amp happily for over a year now, still don't have a remote though. Can't find any reference to the remote codes in the manual, was wondering if any one can shed some light on this? Do any of these codes correspond to my amp? Can't find anywhere that connects the unit models with the remote codes.

Looking at that i'd be surprised if it did enough to help you out.

You might manage volume control (i know my Sony DVD remote allows this) and possibly source switching.

Hopefully i can help a little as i have the AX1. Mine arrived with a smashed remote - complained to the seller but he refused to help me out (replacement remotes were VERY pricy).

In the end i got an All In One 'Mosaic' remote. I then went through every frequency to see which had what effect. Took ages but i ended up with a fairly full list of control commands.

Not sure if the codes will work with other remotes but i'll try and dig out the booklet with the sheet of paper i produced (if i still have it!).

Great amps by the way! :)

You should get yourself along to remote central, in their file area (i only checkthe pronot lassic section cos that's what I have) They have severral configs for the Yamaha DSP-A2 amp. Get yourself a cheap Pronto R940 from the bay and you will be able to not only set it up for your amp but will be able to set the pronto up to control pretty much anything else as well.

I'd be happy with just on/off volume control and source switching really, anything else is a bonus. Looked up the mosaic, seems fairly cheap, the number of amp codes it lists seems to be smaller than the one i have found, going to be a likely option if i know it works though. Can't find the pronto ru940 for sale anywhere, or anything similar at a decent price.

If you could find the remote code that would be great gt. Yeah i really like this amp, films and music all sound good!

There's a few prontos on the bay, doesn't have to be a RU940, there is an RU890 with docking station on there at the mo for £10 plus £5 postage.... would have cost £250 new!!!

Will have a look at the config file to see if there is any info on what infra red codes it uses though it's likely to be made up of learned hex codes rather than taken from a known code set.

I have always wanted to get an old A1 or A2 cheap to try the old skool yamaha amps as they are supposed to be great despite not having the new HD decoders

A Logitech Harmony remote will do most of the major functions you need, you just download an programme to your computer and set up what components you have and how you want them to function with each other.
Once you've done this plug the remote into your computer via USB and it will send it all the settings.
