Bought BF2142 today

It didnt work, still crashed straight after the initial bf2142 splash screen.

Maybe I should try it at 640 x 480 @ 60hz :mad:

Nope no good, tried every resolution going.

Try their tech support tbh, type ea tech support in google.

Tbh there tech support is a hell of a lot better then Valves crap tech support, theirs they take 2 weeks to reply and give you useless things to try solve your problem.

EA actually reply pretty fast and give a number of methods to reply.

I have found EA's tech support extremely patronising and scripted in the past. Despite telling them exactly what I've done (all the usual crap that they ask you) - they get you to do it again and treat you like a silly little child.

I've usually ended up fixing the problems myself no thanks to them

I begrudge buying anything to do with EA tbh.

any luck yet liquid ? make sure your firewall isnt blocking the program and update your directX as there is a known problem with Dx9 and bf2142.

a problem with windows update fekd directX up and although it still works with most games some 'bf2142' crashes

the above links are the main fixes for CTD after initially booting the game up
btw what exactly was the windows error that happened ? if you can remember it might help

***ALSO, tuesdays are EA's server maintenance day and usually from 9-1pm you cannot play the game***

Thanks for the info. I can't try anything as I am now at work, will have to wait until later.

I already tried the windows fix for the stack problem and that didnt help.

I shall have to try the Direct X 9 thing later.

There is no specific info after the PC crashes and reboots then shows the Windows reporting error but it just says it crashed - no indication of what crashed it. Will get more info later if I can.

They only recenlty aquired them certainly not when bf2 was out, 2142 uses the same buggy crap engine/netcode as bf2 so what do you expect.

yes thats me, tega.Syndrome for bf2 and tegaSyndrome on 2142 from our inactive 'turrets Syndrome' clan !
oh and dont worry bout being handed your ass , happens to us all at the start ;p

my main pc is fekd, so using a pc with ati x300 in atm

, and not having played bf2142 for 3weeks im an easy target
