Basically, bought an item from the rainforest from a seller with 'UK' in their name. Noticed it was taking a rather long time for said item to be delivered and contacted them about 2 weeks later. Got a reply that it was coming from Canada, also noticed there was no 'UK' in the name anymore, they were now named 'XXXX Canada'. Have verified by checking my email that i did not make a mistake they indeed were named 'XXXX UK' when i ordered it.

Took 4 weeks and ended up with a 18.00 customs charge in all, 8 of those being a RM 'handling fee' Do i have a leg to stand on regarding reimbursement?

Contact card company, but I wouldn't waste your time on £18 unless you feel you have a good chance of getting it back.

Not too fussed about the money so much as i felt a bit gyped as they fully well knew i'd probably end up paying a lot more. Latest feedback for said seller reflects my sentiments as well, seems a few others were taken.

I'm sure it can't hurt to contact amazon.

I did, just checked my email and they've replied:

Hello Mr ,

I'm sorry to hear the seller mis-represented themselves and that you had to incur the extra charge.

According to the ........ Participation Agreement, all Marketplace sellers are required to charge their buyers a pre-set postage charge. You're therefore not required to pay any additional postage.

We advise you to contact the seller for a refund of the additional charges. In the event that you cannot resolve the issue with your seller, you may wish to read through the terms of our A-z Guarantee:

I hope this helps. We hope to see you again soon.

That Amazon reply refers to postage charges not customs. If you buy from a marketplace seller who is overseas you have to pay any customs charges yourself.

I've never had to. When I've had things shipped from overseas through Amazon it's always turned up with a "customs paid" sticker/stamp.
