Ended up ringing up, Scandinavian man was very helpful. Gone for the higher spec white one, I'll post some photos it comes.

Also got the free iPod on the way, had it engraved to discourage thievery.

Few questions though, here goes:

1) Is the only accessory I need to immediately buy a neoprene sleeve? I've read before, but can't find on here about the "be-ez la robe classic", what's anyone's views on it?

2) Is it OK to attach a DVI>VGA adapter to the end of a mini-DVI>DVI adapter? Not bought one yet, but I will do if it's possible to use for either connector.

3) Is there anything else I need in preparation? Can't wait :D

1 - I don't have that exact sleeve, but I have a be.ez neoprene sleeve for my MBP, and it's great, really works well :)

2 - I don't see why not?

3 - Not that I can think of, maybe a mighty mouse, they're great :)

I can buy the sleeve cheaper in a shop in Hull than I can find it online! So I'm going to go in next few days and see how it fits one. I'm just going to be slipping my MB into my normal backpack for going to uni, so it's scratch protection required mainly.

Wasn't sure whether sticking another adapter on like that would just be not very desirable, but on reflection, it's just like sticking the DVI>VGA adapter in the back of my computer. Clunky, but can serve multiple purposes. Not sure if/how I'll be attaching to an external monitor yet, so didn't want to commit to DVI or VGA.

Mighty Mouse is possibly OTT for how much I'll be using it. I think I probably will need an external mouse, but I'll probably just use an existing IntelliMouse. Do back buttons work by default in browsers?

Mighty Mouse? eeeew! :D Sorry, I'm not a fan of the Apple mouse.

Aside from the case, theres not a lot you need. I wish the laptops had card readers - I have a 7-in-1 USB reader handy. Thats probably my only gripe with the MacBooks.

Oh, and that glossy screen shows up the dust, so maybe some screenwipes.

Don't suppose anybody uses Matlab on their MacBook or Mac in general? Wondering how necessary 2gb RAM will be :p

Nobody will touch my screen :p Or they'll lose their fingers. Use a glasses cloth for wiping dust off my TFTs, will that do?

Anti-Static foam cleaner.

When I worked in the workshop of my old job we'd use it on all the equipment, so I brought some home for the MBP and it's been amazing.

No residues or discoloration, and it's anti-static so it keeps the dust down :)

I have the Incase Neoprene sleeve AND the La Robe Kakee case for my MBP and I prefer the Neoprene case x10.. the fit is a lot more snug, and it's much slimmer profile.

Tucano second skin for me.

No clue on Intel MATLAB performance alas, but if you find out make a post in the software forum. I hope to get it soon for my Macbook.

They sell Tucano skins same place as I've seen the others, I'll compare them in the shop :)

There's no rush on the Matlab for me, I can find out once I've got it I suppose. Won't need to start using it for another month or so. I'll post in Software tomorrow and see what anyone else's experience is anyway.

Poke her in the eye.

and not with your fingers :D

you can buy a mini dvi > vga adaptor :)

as for cases, I love my tucano second sleve, much nicer than the la robe I had just feels better made, bit thicker with more padding and has a keyboard protector

Haha.

But then I'd be stuck if I wanted to use it with a DVI monitor, which is possible if I get a third... I was trying to leave my options open. By not buying it now, suppose I am :p

It's an Apple shop I'm going to, so I'll try one of their MacBooks in the various cases before I buy one :)

Got the e-mail from Apple saying it was dispatched at 0215 on Saturday, but it's still not appeared when I check the tracking number on the UPS site :( Does this mean it's not coming today? :p

Have you checked it via http://apecode.com ??

This will only work if it's been sent from outside the United Kingdom, but when it reaches the UK it will only be 2 working days after that point :)

1. I use a Incase neoprene sleeve I got from the Apple Store in person for £20. Works great.

2. NO! You CANNOT attach a DVI-VGA adaptor to the MINI-DVI - DVI adaptor. If you want DVI output you need to but the DVI one, if you want VGA you need to buy the VGA one. The DVI one only outputs the DVI signal, and also has a slightly different plug so you cannot plug a DVO-VGA adaptor in (I tried about 5 different ones) and it wouldnt work even if it would physically fit.

3. External mouse can be useful...I use the bluetooth mighty mouse and love it.

Yeah, that doesn't seem to know of my order either, just shows the line "Tracking status for..." and then the discussion forum directly under.

I think it has come from UK, everyone seems to have them delivered pretty quick recently :)

Worth giving them a ring? I'm suspicious of this UPS tracking...
