Im after a westfield just after xmas, but the reciepts for these engine rebuilds worry me. If i bought a Zetec engined one, im sure they wouldnt need rebuilding that often would they?

Nice car by the way :)

the story goes like this.

standard VX redtop engine - owner got board

got QED to throw all steel internals etc etc etc into it

took it on a hillclimb and killed it due to oil starvation

back to QED, repair engine and fit 1k dry sump kit

if your going to use it in angor then make sure your mods are up to the job

weight around 500kg, power around 220BHP, goes like stink

roads have been a little damp recently

driving along around 40mph and floor it in 3rd and when it reaches 6k rpm the back end steps out.

i reckon itll beat most things on the road to 60+

Sold my westy last year, and that was only a 135bhp pre-lit
They are fantastic fun to drive :)
Currently building an MK Indy with and r1 lump 160bhp and 400kg *drool*
though tempted by the holeshot turbo kit, 2300 quid drive in and out price to get 240bhp :D

Absolutely fantastic, even has my favorite engine. Roll on next summer :)

A couple of things to note:

Weber 45 Carbs
They really have no business being on an engine of that spec. If you ever feel the need for more power (and I'm sure that won't be for a while), sell them and fit a fuel injection setup. You'd probably recover your costs in fuel savings if you are going to use it much.

Standard Type 9 gearbox

With sticky tyres and an LSD a standard Type 9 will be the weak link in the chain. The low weight of these cars means they last better than they would do in a tin top, but if you use that engine to it's full potential, expect to have to replace this at some time in the future.
