help!!!

I recently bought a Asus P8H61-MX USB 3.0 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard and a Aerocool Qs-202 Midi Tower Case and I can't get it running!

So far I've screwed in PSU into the case and the motherboard into the case.

Have put in the processor and heatsink +ram.

But when I put the other little bits and bobs where I think they should go all I got was a little blue light on the front of the case and the power light on the motherboard.

I've unplugged most of the ones I don't know and have ended up with this:

Theres another 8 pin (splits into 2) plug coming out of my PSU (a corsair) which is unplugged and I have no idea where that goes.

Little pins coming out of the case with markings - SW, Power SW.

A few other cables which I can take pictures of if you want.

I'm so useless with this stuff, help!!

:(

Looks like You have no power to your cpu the 4pin blue plug next to heat sink and fan (please tell me you applied thermal patse) the little pins you mention will be the headers for the power switch, reset button, hhd led etc, these cables should already be in the case so look in the mobo manual if youre not sure where to stick them

If you have read through your manual, it gives you clear instructions, step by step, where everything fits and connects.

Aye it looks like the 4pin motherboard power connection isn't hooked up.

Also, I can't see in the picture, have you connect the power switch (usually marked with something like pwr sw) to the headers on the motherboard, it should be next to the header for the power light.

Mate have you read you motherboard manual, it will help guide you through what goes where. Asus are very good for info.

Sorry beaten to it..

Is it me or does that board look like its been bolted directly to the case which is casuing the rear I/O not to sit flush with the I/O shield, did you remember to use the stand off's? they should have came with your case and keep the motherboard away from the case to stop short circuit's on it which can damage it.

maybe lol

oops I did bolt it striaght on.

Reading the manual turned out to be a good idea, cpu fan is spinning and it turns on now.

Ta lads

Tip of the day - Always read the manual.... shame they dont make one for the female of the species i still cant find the onboard sound on mine been trying to disconnect it for years

lol anyway back on topic, standoffs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes but they normally look like one of these.

They are spacers between the motherboard and the case.

Sorry to keep posting in this thread but I'm still having a mare with the build.

I got the computer up and running into the bios, I changed the setting from IDE -> AHCI and enabled sata connections 1-4.

But I still can't find my intel 330 ssd in the bios thus windows can't see it when I go to install it.

I read on another forum that a person who had a similar problem should to go and update the bios. So I got a usb with the download from the site ending in a .rom plugged it in and tried to boot from it. It just went round and round and wouldn't stop even with the usb taken out.

I then took out the CMOS battery and reset the jumpers on the mobo.

All of a sudden there was a spark and a pop and a burning smell when I turned it back on. So I turned it back up and unplugged it for 30 mins.

Its turned on again now and the fans are running etc.... The bios has been reset, but I'm still getting a message saying:

The current BIOS setting do not fully support the boot device. Click OK to enter the BIOS SET UP.

Go to Advanced > Boot > CSM Parameters and adjust the CSM settings to enable the boot device"

Any ideas what to do next?

do you have another pc to test the ssd in? plug it into another pc

then click start/right click my computer/manage/storage/disk management and see if the ssd shows up in there

if it does right click it and create a simple volume, then shutdown pc and swap the ssd over to your new pc,then it should show up to install windows on to it
