Bought some SO-DIMM from crucial doesn't work/not compatible

I bought this:

even though the website said "not to exceed manufacturer supported memory" when looking at the page for my laptop:
http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=Evo Notebook N1015v Series

I thought I would chance buying a 1Gb stick instead of 2 512Mb parts so potentially I could have 1.25Gb using memory I already had.

Can I just return it, no questions asked?

Advise them that you are returning them under Distance Selling Regulations.
