Hi guys

I was wondering if there is anything I can do, to be able to use the 8GB of RAM rated at 3000Mhz for my Ryzen build. It seems that I did not pay enough attention and mistakenly bought Corsair Vengeance LPX (CMK8GX4M2B3000C15). At the moment my motherboard MSI B350 Tomahawk (using the latest bios - 7A34v16 with AGESA Code 1.0.0.6) will not post with full 8GB installed. It only posts with 1 stick and this is running at 2133Mhz.

I tried changing the sticks to see if one is DOA, but that is not the case. Also tried multiple slots but again with no success.

I have tried playing the speed and timings but truthfully I don't know what I am doing. Never tinkered with my RAM before today, so I am a complete beginner at this.

Best solution is to return the RAM and buy again, but since it's a weekend I might as well see if I can get this to run on my motherboard.

Any ideas where should I start or is anyone else using the same RAM as me for a Ryzen build. This RAM seems to be designed for Intel X99 platform...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Which slots are you putting it in?
Make sure they are both the same colour. Then try the other colour.
Mine will only work in one colour, there was an extra bit of paper with the motherboard stating so and it wouldn't boot the other way.

Yes I've tried that. My motherboard also had the same bit of paper as yours.

The amount of RAM issues with Ryzen is staggering. Should have known better and went with Intel really. Oh well, lesson learnt for next time :)

This ram is very compatible with all ryzen boards at 3200Mhz. I designed it for Ryzen specifically and the spd is such that it boots and works xmp easy.

Here is a video about the Ram design, compatibility and overclocking :

Thanks for the suggestion 8 Pack. I've decided to return the ram and exchange it. Looked at the MSI website and going to get a pair of officially supported version.

No don't get qvl stuff as it changes as per bios update. My suggestion or other Samsung b die are the best option.
