Bouncy castles

i got a tiny bouncy castle for my son a few years a go for £300 it was up to 2 kids only.

you need commercial grade its going to cost a fair bit more, what's wrong with another car wash?

LOL

The problem with scouts and brownies now is you can't do any of the fun dangerous stuff like lighting fires and cooking on them against health and saftey apparently as such only the leader is allowed to make the fires and cook Bear Grylls is trying to change this so all the fun stuff can be done again but he's allegedly fighting an uphill battle.

Can Cubs/Scouts still use candles? We held a song-by-candlelight session one evening. Can they still go out camping? But yeah things seems to have changed for the worse now from 25 years ago.

That's a load of ********. My scout group (and all the other local ones I know of) Regularly light fires, chop wood with axes and saws, build towers and bridges out of ropes and staves, go camping, cook their own food, go hiking, whittle sticks with pen knives, light more fires, chop more wood and go camping some more.

The scout association has done a very good job of rationalising all the health and safety nonsense so that we can do the things that scouting has always done. I would suggest that anyone that thinks otherwise is out of touch with the scouting movement.

9 to 12 year olds really still looking around and yes it will be a lot more expensive if it's going to be one that going to last long.

Rubbish.

I'm an occasional helper at my local group and we let them do that kind of stuff - right down to the Beaver age group.

My 7 year old built, lit and cooked on an open fire at county camp last weekend. It has to be risk assessed (and rightly so), but there's nothing to say they can't do that kind of stuff as long as the proper controls and supervision is in place.

That's a load of crap frankly.

I'm a Scout leader, we let our youth build their own fires (in fact this weekend we are camping and they are cooking all of their own meals over an open fire, that they will have to build).

We are sleeping outside in tents and later in the year we will be running a survival camp where they have to make shelters in the woods and sleep under them for the night.

On this camp we will be running an axes session where they will get hands-on with an axe and our cub scouts will be using wood carving tools to make their own bowls.

We will also be doing air rifle shooting and would have been doing outdoor climbing if our instructors hadn't cancelled on us at the last minute.

As above, anyone who says that Scouts aren't allowed to do "fun" stuff are lying.

[Edit] Missed what Amiga said above me :D :p

Hi Guys

Hope you are all good...

We are doing a big event on the 31st of August were we are expecting a turnout of 5,000 people.

There will be a number of activities, music, stalls, food etc. something for everyone hopefully.

I want to know if any of you guys know of any good companies that deal with bouncy castles and wall climbing hire that offer a good rate and reasonable price.

Of course I have done some research of my own and will be ringing around some places in the morning.

Just wanted to know if any of you guys have had any past experiences or can make some recommendations.

Thnks
