Bounty Bay Online: New Free2Play Server – Now you can play for free!
Dear sea captains and future sea captains,
Bounty Bay Online (http://www.bountybayonline.com) is now offering its customers a second server with an alternative payment model. In addition to the existing subscription-based server, William Bligh ("Classic Server"), we have opened the server "Mary Read" which will have a free2play model. As the name free2play suggests, there is no monthly fee. You can download the client (game software) free of charge at (http://www.bountybayonline.com).
On the new server, there is an item shop (https://shop.bountybayonline.com) where you can buy certain items; some which speed up characters levelling and others give players additional advantages. There are even some items available for as little as 3 cents. The free2play server gives players an alternative to the old server, whether you just don’t have the time to play much, and feel that paying a monthly fee for what little time you do spend playing is not an option, or you just want to have the ability to reach your goals faster. A detailed description of what the new server has to offer is available in our FAQ section of the website.
The classic server “William Bligh” will remain independent and unaffected by the new server. All those who play on the classic server can expect the same great support they are used to. Furthermore Yusho will continue updating and optimizing the existing game and working to improve the accessibility of our support. Essentially, the game world, game play and service for both servers will be the same except for the payment structure.
I played this during the pre-release open beta for about a month I think (got bored and fed up of slow performance on my old rig). I wouldn't have paid for it then as it was charging just as much as the big-name MMOs like WoW etc.
I'm guessing it plays similar to PotBS even though I've never played it, but it's not bad for an MMO you can play casually without having to worry about monthly fees. Personally I think the sea combat is quite fun, land combat and levelling was a little on the tedious side - this might've changed since the beta mind.
Probably worth a try when you've got nothing to lose!
