I need to wear a bow-tie for the uni ball in a few hours but am rather confused as to how it works. I bought it from tie rack a couple of years ago (along with a clip on one if i couldnt figure this out :p) didnt have time then and couldn't figure it out so just used the clip on. Now I have some time, so thought I would use your knowledge :p

The thing is, the one I have is in two parts with a tiny clip at the back which seems rather impossible to tie into each other. I'm probably being really daft, but hey :p

Anyone have any idea why it's in 2 pieces and if its supposed to be like this? all the videos and images I see online show it from being draped around the neck so that doesn't help me.

...and no-one you can ask at uni knows how to do it either?

It's considerably easy to demonstrate than to explain over the net :p

i got a couple of friends coming over in a bit, but I don't think they know much either :p I thought someone on here, in their infinite wisdom, could help out :p

youtube guides are there, but starting from it being draped around the neck. But it seems to be in two pieces which is what I don't really understand. Small clips at either end, but not very compatible. One end goes through the clip, but then has nothing to tie into, so a hard tug would just pull it out of it, which doesnt make sense :S

Thats a pic. I can't figure out what the part on the right end, the small hook like thing goes into? its too small to go into the black bit on the other piece.

through the loop and hook back onto itself. there'll be little holes just a few cm back from the hook. Trial and error to get the right hole - depends on how big your neck is. Tying is suprisingly easy once you get the hang of it.

But when it's tied at the front the tension will stay in the bow tie, so it won't come unclipped?

Yea, but it looks a bit wierd since a right tug would untie it.

Aah. you're right! the'yre there. it's one piece now! I can judge where to hook it once friends come over since itl be easier :D

Thanks a lot, lol. It was driving me nuts! hehe. How in the world do you figure out those tiny holes are there >_<

They should give instructions along with the damn thing, lol.?

Both the ones I've bought (tie rack and probably slaters) have had instructions in the form of diagrams. Not particularly helpful. Best way to learn is to ask someone to show you.

Oh and do I keep that gold loop thingy? or looks better without it you reckon?

:D No that's for packaging. Don't keep that on when you wear it.
