I am today selling my Wii because after playing through Zelda and Excite Truck nothing really interests me. Tis a shame because I had been looking forward to it for ages.

The good thing about the Wii was that I got to play Super Mario Sunshine, and a few other gamecube games and that got me thinking about what else I have been missing out on.

I have already got an Xbox, so I've decided to get a Gamecube. As I have never played a Playstation 2, should I get one and which games are must haves ?

Call me a tight wad but I going to be enjoying last gen games for a few more years yet, hopefully by then the 360, ps3 and wii will have come way down in price.

yes , yes you should

god of war 1 and 2
metal gear series
black
gran turismo 4
gta series

theres hundreds of great games for it , best thing to do is name genres you enjoy so people can recommend accordingly

Why not instead of getting a gamecube just play the gamecube games on the Wii

Edit: if you do get a Gamecube get Metal Gear solid twin snakes, Resident evil remake and Tales Of Symphonia

Well, I like most genres so its probably best I name the one I don't like - Racing Games, although that's probably more racing sims than arcade racers like Burnout.
Oh, and I've played most Xbox games so that would count out any cross platform games. :)

Cost. I have managed to pick up a Gamecube + controllers + memory card for £30 and sold the Wii for £180.

grab yourself a PS2 fella. there are a bunch of quality titles.

Shadow of the Collossus.
Metal Gear 2
Final Fantasy XII
Devil May Cry III
GTA III
GT4
God Of War

You can probably get those for dirt cheap.

IF youve already got an Xbox and you havent got them already get the GTA games for that instead not the PS2. They look and run a lot better on Xbox.

PS2 games I would recommend are God of War 1 and 2 and Guitar Hero :D

I dont think I could stand seeing everyone with their next-gen consoles, I would never get the pleasure I do out of playing the 360 on a PS2 or Xbox.

Really? Have you owned those consoles to be able to say that? If so then I'm surprised.

I think the last gen consoles are great value now and have been for some time. For someone who hasn't had one before, a PS2 is a great buy and there are a ton of great games which can be had cheaply now.

Resident Evil 4 is one game I wish I'd tried before I sold my PS2 :(

This means that I'm tempted to get another PS2 just for this purpose :/

I would get a GC except that I'm not sure there are any other GC games worth getting (that I would like).

Yep, I've owned all 3 and I would never go back now. There is such an improvement in the next gen consoles that I would have no reason whatsoever to go back to a PS2 or Xbox.

I can't do old things. Like I couldn't go and play Max Payne, because Max Payne 2 exists. I hate being like this :(
What? Max Payne is by far the better game than the sequel :) It's not as dramatic as Deus Ex to Deus Ex 2, but Max Payne 2 was a disappointment for me.

Get Resident Evil 4 on your cube, it's unbelievably good.
Is it worth getting 1,2 and 3 before 4 though ? - it always confuses me what is available on what console and what are the ones to avoid ? (and what is this zero ?)

Probably a silly question, but if a game is good in general I like to play through the whole series (if they are on the same console).

I loved advance wars DS, so I have just bought advance wars on the gba, and will get advance wars 2 when I have finished it. Fantastic gameplay wins over graphics any day especially when I picked them up for a pittance :D.

Hmm.. I wouldn't say so.

Resident Evil 4 has no real relevance/ties to the other 5 games ( RE0, 1,2,3 and Code Veronica ) other than the main character. Resident Evil 0 takes place before the storyline of RE1.

In RE4 the enemies are totally different, the gameplay is totally different, as is the storyline. You'd have no advantage playing through the other games first imo.

I'd still recommend getting them though, they're all decent games.

I found

Resident evil 4 to be excellent graphically, and very playable, great game.

Resident Evil remake even better graphics, but the gameplay was shocking. controls terrible, and the way you're forced to backtrack as your inventory isn't big enough, too frustrating for words. It wouldn't be so bad if it let you drop something but no, you gotta find a box before it lets you do drop. I reckon they should do a remake of the remake lol.

Not played Resident Evil 0 yet, hoping its more in line with the fourth.
