Boxes for stuff

My girlfriend is forever having a go at me because I keep the boxes for everything I buy (valuable items, such as PC parts, AV stuff). Do you throw yours out or keep it? What value is there in keeping it beyond adding a few % to the items resale price? I have a few cupboards worth!

I save all my boxes for RMA purposes incase something breaks.

the only company I have ever known to send a courier with a box is sony

I do this. But I'm terrible for keeping track. A while back I had a proper clear out and found I still had boxes for items i didn't have any more!

I get rid of the box. I just don't have room for them. If it breaks I am pretty sure you don't need the box. Although I know some people like to sell stuff. I just make sure it is going to last a long time before I buy, not one for ebaying something when the next model comes out.

I keep mine because they come in useful eventually, returning things under warranty, selling stuff, protecting floors, wrapping things up. Not everything though, just one of each size (roughly)

90% of the time i keep the box up in the loft, especially for anything tech-wise. Just in case i need to take/send it back or sell it.

I generally keep the boxes for my more expensive purchases until their out of warranty or I have no plan to sell them on.

Always keep the boxes. Along with the accessories they tend to increase the price people will pay when selling. Also needed for RMA's and easier if posting the item to someone.

More importantly whats it got to do with her? If she is like this over small stuff, imagine the hassle when it comes to important stuff! Ditch now before you become an ocuk thread on a failed relationship....

For anything electrical I tend to keep the box for a year or two (usually in the loft), then have a mammoth trip to the tip with them every few years.
