BQ Aquaris X - Problem with the latest update

Hi everyone.

I was wondering if you could help me with my phone - I have a BQ Aquaris X (Android) and my phone is getting slower and slower. I have checked on the latest update from the software and the latest one was done on the 1st of October 2019, and the update is Android 8.1.0.

I have tried to run it and get another update but I get a message saying there are no more updates.

I have digged a bit and I have seen that the company BQ is no longer operating, therefore I understand that's the reason why I can't get any further update. Would it be possible though to get an update somehow in any other way? I believe with a new update the system would be running a lot quicker and fix some old bugs.

You will have to go custom ROMs but it will depend if anyone is interested in developing a ROM for it. XDA is usually the best for this, and having a quick look there's a few custom ROMs available: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/bq-aquaris-x-pro-roms-kernels-recoveries-othe.7779/

They still seem to be Android 8.1 based, but looking at LineageOS's site, LineageOS 17.1 (based on Android 10) is available: https://download.lineageos.org/bardock

Bare in mind installing a custom ROM will delete everything on the phone, as it's pretty much installing a different OS onto it (eg replacing Windows on PC).

I'd advise getting a new phone. If you're stuck on Android 8 and they're no longer operating then you won't get any updates.
