Braces

Wearing under a t-shirt seems... suboptimal. You don't want to have to unhook them any time you want to take a dump and you'd end up with the t-shirt outside your jeans. Buttons, or bachelor buttons, work better than hooks but you'd need to modify your trousers to fit them - are you happy to do that?

I don’t tuck my polo/tshirt in.

Not really happy modifying pants to fit other braces

Braces have significant advantages over belts. You don't have to compromise between having them loose and comfortable round the waist and staying up, and there's no risk of them gapping at the back when you move around.

Put 'em on your trousers instead of your pants?

You might find some of the military versions work well for thick/heavy trousers. I'm talking the dress uniform type for the woolen barrack trousers, rather than the load-spreaders for combat webbing.


Failing that, ask some local skinheads:

Decalen crossback on amazon have been my daily for a few years.

pretty decent although elastic (as all elastic) goes eventually, the metal clips are sufficient for lifting burdened trousers (you might need to tweak the tension with some pliers) but if you're a fellow of jolly stature they can chafe a tad against bare skin depending on where you clip the fronts to.

the best in terms of design imo is the crossback which attaches to the right/left waist, I don't know if there's a specific name for that style i know them from back in the (pre-war) days of airsoft with gorka lowers.
 
I remember when this place was all about partying, nights out and chasing the ladies, not braces, hospital visits and pensions.

I long for those days….
