Brad Mcquaid dead

He was only 51, wonder what happened?

It's a shame, he brought a lot to the table.

Hasnt been confirmed yet but the rumours are it was heart related. Maybe a heart attack.

Although EQ wasnt the first MMO, it is doubtful that giants like World of Warcraft would ever have existed if Everquest hadnt paved the way. You could certainly argue the case that Mcquaid was the father of the mainstream MMO genre.

Everquest was probably the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had. Starting as low level character, learning the class and to group with people and finding a guild. Running across the high level zones, dying and trying to find your corpse, and getting strong enough to solo some of the big mobs. Such highs, and some lows, but what an amazing experience. Eventually I had to stop, as I realised I was addicted to the game - and wanted to stay married. :-) Nothing comes close compared to that year on Everquest.

So sorry to hear the news about, Brad. I always followed his updates in the press, and it's a big loss for us all.

Wasn't he supposed to have being popping pills or under the influence of chemicals when EQ was just released?

There was a rumour, never been proved, back in the day that he was addicted to prescription drugs. It should however be noted that the rumour originated from a former employee (sacked) who worked on EQ, so its not entirely beyond the realms of possibility that it was merely a hoax created by a disgruntled former worker to get back at his bosses.
