Braid help - where is world 4?

I'm loving braid, and loving the logic of the puzzles, but I'm totally stumped by how to start world 4?

I've got the solved & traversed achievements for worlds 2 & 3 and puzzles completed, but on the 'homescreen' - which room is world 4? - only the room bottom right lights up, and there's nothing to do in that room? I can't climb the ladders as they're incomplete.

I'm sure it's blatantly obvious.. I just can't see it...

(All the walkthroughs simply say 'go to world 4')

Any help appreciated, as otherwise I'm stuck.

So world 4 is the room bottom left? It remains dark when I enter...

It's like I've missed completing something, but the puzzle for 2 & 3 are complete.
 
ARGHGHG - that's a rubbish game mechanic....

I hadn't spoken to 'barnie' in the last screen of world 3, so although I'd got the achievements and completed the puzzles, the game wouldn't move forward.

Giving the achievements before the player can move on to the next level? -1 point for that!
