Braided mouse cord problems

Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with the braided cords on high end mice?

Basically they end up with a permanent kink, and the inner rubber sheathe starts to protrude through the outer braiding; eventually due to the continued wear/sharp angle, the wires inside break, causing intermittent connection issues.

This was my Logitech G500 last August - these were pictures I took for Logitech to RMA it:

As you can see, there is a major kink in one part of the cord, and in another it's completely frayed through!

I received a G500s as a replacement, but within a week it had a minor kink in it, just where the cord enters the mouse (I think it's to do with where the cable is folded quite tightly when it's in the packaging). I've been using the mouse since, but it's gotten progressively worse, to the point where the cable now comes out of the mouse at a right angle! A bit of a shame, since otherwise the mouse is in practically new condition :(

I'm hesitant to RMA it again, since a) it's already a replacement, and b) I'll likely get another one which will probably have the same issue :(

Anyone else had similar issues? And what are your thoughts on RMAing? Would it be taking the urine to request another replacement? And if I do RMA it, what do you reckon are my chances of being able to pay the difference to "upgrade" to a wireless model?

Bit disappointing, since in my opinion, other than this problem, this is the "perfect" mouse, but since this is now the 3rd mouse I've had with the same issue (I had another G5 that had the same problem, but was out of warranty), I'm starting to lose faith in them :(

Best to give them a ring and have a chat. They are normally pretty decent about it. If not then you just hang up and try again.

My razer naga is braided and i was worries about the issue you have too hence why i always check and make sure i keep it loose. Fingers crossed still ok.

Good luck

How do you route your mouse cable?

Ive had logitech braided mice for years now. Currently on my second g600 and i had a g5 before the for years. It frayed a little after years of use but Ive never seen one kink.

It's not really "routed" as such, just goes alongside the monitor stand and down the back of the desk to the PC, I haven't got it pulling at tight angles or anything :(

Oh well, just called them, no luck.

Despite the fact the new mouse has lasted less than a year, they can't do anything since the original mouse is now out of warranty - makes sense I guess, but a bit of a pain.

Looks like time for a new mouse, or replacement cable off ebay :(

I'd try calling back and seeing if you get someone else, Logitech are normally very very good with this sort of thing.
