Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with the braided cords on high end mice?
Basically they end up with a permanent kink, and the inner rubber sheathe starts to protrude through the outer braiding; eventually due to the continued wear/sharp angle, the wires inside break, causing intermittent connection issues.
This was my Logitech G500 last August - these were pictures I took for Logitech to RMA it:
As you can see, there is a major kink in one part of the cord, and in another it's completely frayed through!
I received a G500s as a replacement, but within a week it had a minor kink in it, just where the cord enters the mouse (I think it's to do with where the cable is folded quite tightly when it's in the packaging). I've been using the mouse since, but it's gotten progressively worse, to the point where the cable now comes out of the mouse at a right angle! A bit of a shame, since otherwise the mouse is in practically new condition
I'm hesitant to RMA it again, since a) it's already a replacement, and b) I'll likely get another one which will probably have the same issue
Anyone else had similar issues? And what are your thoughts on RMAing? Would it be taking the urine to request another replacement? And if I do RMA it, what do you reckon are my chances of being able to pay the difference to "upgrade" to a wireless model?
Bit disappointing, since in my opinion, other than this problem, this is the "perfect" mouse, but since this is now the 3rd mouse I've had with the same issue (I had another G5 that had the same problem, but was out of warranty), I'm starting to lose faith in them
