so I have this PSU - Super Flower which I plan to braid. but I've just removed the bulky braiding round the atx connector to be met with the following. what the heck are these capacitors for? some sort of current smoothing? and how the hell do you braid those?!

I've looked at the pre braided cables available from Super Flower and I don't see any sign of these caps on those - so what gives?

Cut them off and find out? :p

Jokes aside, what do they say?

Maybe worth contacting SuperFlower about it, but bad luck if you can't do anything about it.

Sorry i also posted this in the general hardware area and replied to that with the below (more or less)

Spoke with super flower via FB and the chap told me they add additional ripple protection but he said that as the unit produces less that half the permitted level of ripple for atx standard psus removing them would make zero difference unless I was trying overclocking world records.

That said I'm tempted to try and remove them, braid them (just the cable) and replace. If they look guff I'll just take them out altogether.
