Follow up to THIS thread in regards to her fits

We went to get the results of the brain scan my 1 year old daughter had about a month ago i think it was now and the results where more confusing than anything

They have said the graph showed there was something not right there when during the test they done the strobe lights test and have booked her in for an MRI scan , I say booked but she is in fact on the waiting list AGAIN . They have also been informed that the fits she has are now spreading to control the right side of her body aswell but seem in no certain rush to get anything done fast about it

Both my wife an i have thought it is epilepsy but when asked the specialist wouldn't say if it was or wasn't but has given us some medication for her called CARAMAZEPHINE which suggests to me it may be epilepsy

Now just to wait for the MRI which also they said they will have to put her to sleep for :(

Can't tell if that's good or bad news unfortunately. Waiting lists suck, so much for them keep telling us no waiting lists. All the best for her.

I know what you mean and its even more rustrating when its for one so young aswell

The NHS really sucks unless it's an emergency. I'm sorry to hear that you've not got any results yet. Epilepsy isn't the end of the world though, there is medication that can control it to the point of having no fits at all. I hope she can get it all sorted and feeling better soon.

They're just trying to explore every possibility. I'm sure they're putting her on medication to see if controls the fits. MR scanners are in great demand, don't worry about the sedation, it is imperative that anyone in an MR scanner is completely still otherwise it screws up the whole imaging process and it becomes pointless (blurring).

I hope she gets better soon :)

Keep positive mate. I hope the results are OK. In the meantime, if you have any questions regarding epilepsy without having to trawl google possibly hitting flase information, I'd be happy to answer a few questions for you (studied Epilepsy in qutie a lot detail as part of my Neuroscience).

/obviously you have the neurologists et. al., more so when you're at home in the evening worrying ;)

Thanks for all your comments guys

We had a letter today asking us to go and see the specialist at the epilepsy clinic in 6 weeks - Its so annoying they just wont tell us whats going on

unfortunatly they prob get far too much aggrivation from people if they say they think one things going on and then it turns out to be something else, so its easier for them to wait until their sure. Im sure she will be fine though :)
