Alright, I've been drumming up for months all the options and am still undecided so time to let anyone here have a go at building me a new rig!

Here's the rules:

  1. Budget is £1200 (Excluding VAT - that' £1410 with VAT)
  2. All spec's must include a Monitor of at least 20" (With minimum 1600 resolution on the horizontal) (Been thinking NEC here but open to input)
  3. All designs must be *severely* overclockable. If possible, watercooled but this is not a "must".
  4. 2Gb RAM minimum.

I'll leave it at that to allow a bit of flexibility. Over to you all!

Its a tight budget for this kinda spec to add in watercooling, maybe getting a cheaper graphics card or screen...
Not sure if yir wanting to include speakers, keyboard & mouse with the price.

No keyboard/mouse/soundcard required.

I'd drop the Sony DVD-ROM off, downspec the case, switch the hard drive to a Seagate 320Gb...

Not sure on graphics... 8800 while an exceptional card is not (in my opinion) value for money yet. I'd have to steer more towards an X1950XT or XTX...

Any more thoughts people?

I'd go with the gigabyte DS3 over the asrock if you can. The DS3 should overclock great with that cpu and ram.

I'd say drop the DVD-ROM and the X-Fi and put the £50 into a DS3, I'd say get a cheap 1950pro / XT first until ATi released the R600 then decide which one you are going for next.

I have one of those Tagan 530 easycons and the 12V rails tend to drop under load, still a solid PSU though, but it'll be better to go for a Seasonic / Corsair.

Nobody said anything about the cooler!! I'd say put in extra £15 for a freezer 7 pro.
