Got a few jobs to do with parents car and will probably do the E60 too. What is peoples preferred pressurised brake bleed tool (other than a hefty friend).

I used to have one of these systems, which was a bit cack if I'm honest, that attached to the spare wheel for pressure. I'm sure things have moved on a bit since then.

So what do you guys recommend?

Still rubbish, we have a vacuum one in our workshop which works off the air compressor.

9/10 we bleed them manually!

I have an eezibleed and it worked marvelously on my old clio, but i find the main problem with it is that it only fits certain master cylinders.

Cool, I have just the person in mind :o

Correct me if I'm wrong:

Open bleed nipple with hose attached into catch tank
He presses pedal till the new stuff comes through
Whilst he is still pressing pedal, I shut off bleed nipple
Check MC and topup if necessary, proceed, repeat

I use a "Europat Vizibleed Brake and Clutch Bleeding Kit". Still doesn't make the stupid process you have to follow with Evo's any easier.

Dont waste your time faffing about with the E60, at 60ish quid a brake fluid change at the dealer is so cheap its not worth the bother. Infact as its not yours (It's leased isnt it?) can you even DIY it anyway?

Brake bleeding costs about £15 including the bleeder and is a very easy job.

The best bit of kit i have is speed bleed nipples which replaces the nipple in the caliper.

Not seen those before but I reckon I might have to invest in a set for the race car. I suck at bleeding brakes and probably don't change the fluid as often as I should because I hate doing it.

Bit of hose going into bottle with some fluid in it, open valve, get nate to press pedal, when there are no more bubbles close over whilst pressing.

Oh and do it in the right order, normally furthest from the mc first

This may be utterly utterly utterly daft however. On our rep car we gave the Toyota dealer our Avensis to do a full brake fluid flush. Cost £30 inc vat..

They could easily do the same on a BMW. Or even a Skoda dealer.

The best thing was that I could literally see every single thing that was going on through the big windows and the car was treated with respect throughout it all.

i use a bit of tube and a bottle filled with fluid my diy one man bleed you could just attach and let it bleed it self although you will need to keep an eye on the res

Those claiming to only need a borrowed foot and a spanner have clearly never tried bleeding the clutch on a Saab 99/900. If you don't have access to a pressure bleeder a 5 minute job can end up taking hours and, even then, have a marginal chance of success.

I use an ancient Gunson Eezi bleed which works well.

Even better is something like a Mityvac. Just connect to the bleed nipple, loosen, start pumping, tighten nipple and then give one last half pump to remove the fluid from the pipes.
