I have just changed the front pads on my bandit and the brake fluid level has risen so there is no visible bubble in the reservoir. Do I need to take some out or is it ok like that?

take some out so its below the filling level

use a clean rag to soak some up but don't let it drip on any paintwork,or an unused turkey baster

Just bleed it out with new brake fluid..........................always the best way of dealing with it. Why leave old brake fluid in, that has obviously been topped up.

If the fluid has rose above the max mark in the res after replacing the brake pads.......................then it certainly has been topped up at some point. The point is though, new brake pads.............................just bleed the whole lot through with new fluid. It takes mins and will set you good to go for 1000's of miles.

Yip as said- just bleed some fresh stuff through. Costs next to nothing!

Failing that ... making sure its not above the high marker as you need an air gap for fluid expansion when the fluid heats up

I've just replaced my pads with EBC and bleed the whole system, new pads for me, means may as well just do the lot, especially with new hoses etc...

I expect when the fluid was replaced last year it was filled to the max but it still had the worn pads on.

Yep, I bleed mine at the start of every year, when it comes round to new pads time I just syrange some out of the reservoir til it's near the low mark, stick new pads on and it's usually half full by then.
