Hi guys. Quick question. I am looking at getting some replacement brake fluid for the S3, already settled on the Motul RBF600, I just don't know how much to buy! I saw somewhere (can't remember where now) that 1.5 litres ought to cover it. Is this right?

Cheers in advance

I completely replaced mine few months ago and used just under a litre, I got 1.5 but kept the other 500ml as backup.

Excellent, cheers. I'll just get 1.5 litres and if I have spare I can keep it until the next replacement.

Got to remember if its been opened its a bit useless because as soon as the air hits it it starts to degrade.

ive flush the brake fluid on 2 mk3 golfs in the last week. they take 800ml, i know that because i used ATE superblue. that was including the clutch too. the first one you do will require far more fluid than the rest as it displaces the contents of the abs pump first

my local ford stealer wanted £65 to do my focus ST at last service told them to whistle, but I should get it done as its hit the two year mark now, how much should I be paying?

I'd have thought most places would charge an hours labour + the cost of fluid.

don't forget if you are changing the fluid you will probably bleed quite a bit thru the system when doing the bleed nipples on each caliper. I generally buy three litres just to be on the safe side and usually end up with a full litre spare in case of top ups.

I thought I would need loads, much to my surprise I only needed just over half a litre to completely flush the whole system through on my car.

This was going from normal fluid which is yellowish to a clear/UV looking fluid (Castrol SRF) and I allowed plenty to come through before being happy with it.

It will absorb the water in the air, if it is resealed and not left open then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Well, without wanting to give the game away too much yet... I'll be putting new calipers on at the same time. Hopefully 1.5 litres will be enough to get me going!
